The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Project Engineer Superintendent, thispositionisresponsible for coordinating project construction, repair, and inspection activities in and sometime outside of the refinery.
  • Ensures contractors are working safely, following environmental guidelines, and performing quality work on projects. Holds contractors accountable to optimize cost and schedule.

Key activities include:

  • Coordinate field work for refinery projects and turnarounds.
  • Perform constructability review of project designs before projects are issued for construction.
  • Check project materials to ensure we have the correct materials and amounts. At times, make use of refinery surplus materials to ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Ensure contractor work in the field:
    • is being performed safely by doing such things as auditing tasks against our standards, preparing work permits, and administering pre-job safety checklist.
    • is compliant with environmental regulations
    • meets our quality standard
  • Maximize contractor productivity by:
    • Coordinating tasks with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and other refinery departments
    • Optimizing head count in the field
    • Ensuring head count being billed equals the head count in the field
    • Approving contractor time daily
    • Managing field changes
  • Report on field progress
    • Participate in daily project schedule meeting
    • Provide schedule updates to project managers
  • Participate as project representative in pre-startup safety reviews

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. Qualifications for this role:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License with acceptable Driver's Abstract
  • Five years of refinery, construction, and/or craft experience
  • Experience supervising, directing, and/or managing contractors and employees

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $110,000 to $137,000, plus non-discretionary bonus.The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
