Job Description

Puyenpa is looking for a Senior Employment Navigator who can assist military personnel in their transition to civilian occupations and providing individual counseling on the job search process. Senior Employment Navigators would be expected to assess the transitioning Servicemember and/or transitioning spouse’s acquired skills via tools/software provided and assist with career exploration and translating their military experience desired by future employers. Senior Employment Navigators would also be expected to connect transitioning Servicemembers and/or spouses to DOL government and non-government partners as well as American Job Centers based on the Servicemember and/or spouse’s needs. Some travel may be required.

 

The ideal Senior Employment Navigator candidate would have excellent time management skills, able to work independently, able to respond to inquiries, and, if necessary, work remotely. The Senior Employment Navigator should have prior experience providing Military Servicemembers (Active, Reserve, National Guard), family members, and Veterans a comprehensive understanding of preparing for civilian employment, job searching, job application processes, networking, technical training opportunities, credentialing, and assistance in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years of experience working as a Workforce Solutions, Workforce Development, Career Counselor, Human Resources (HR) Specialist and/or experience in employment counseling, vocational counseling, guidance, placement counseling, rehabilitation counseling or educational counseling.
  • A Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the civilian workplace, translating military skills/language, assessing job market, and researching/interpreting job requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Applications and virtual platforms
  • Able to work well with the Military clients and must be able to communicate orally and in writing
