Job Overview

Performs maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment and systems for a 24/7 critical facility. Work involves installation, maintaining, repairing, and testing of chilled water systems, refrigeration systems, split systems, packaged air conditioning systems, compressed air systems, fans/blowers, motors, heating units, controls, pumps, and a variety of other mechanical systems/components. Work is accomplished from schedules and work orders and may include drawings, sketches, plans and specifications. Diagnostics may be required to locate problems along with standard calculations relating to load requirements and pipe sizes. Use is made of standard Mechanic's tools and equipment including those for test and measurement.

Pay Rate: $53.85/Hourly


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Skills and knowledge related to the construction, maintenance, and operation of commercial and industrial type HVAC equipment and installations.
  • Maintains numerous mechanical, and controls components including chillers, compressors, motors, heaters, pumps, fans, ducts, pneumatic systems, VAVs, VFDs, pipes, thermostats, switches etc. and associated components for various manufacturers, i.e. York, McQuay, Trane, Carrier, etc.
  • Services and operates all types of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, climate-controlled automation systems, energy management control systems and program control systems.
  • Diagnoses and corrects problems throughout the entire building system by monitoring, checking, and adjusting automated building control systems to recommended settings. Test, calibrate, and restore building EMCS performance using necessary special tools and equipment.
  • Reads and follows blueprints, design specifications and manufacturer instructions to install compressors, motors condensing units, evaporators, piping, and other components.
  • Interprets wiring diagrams to locate failures.
  • Works standard computations relating to load requirements of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Assists other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations.
  • Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
  • Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to trades or skills.
  • Proper use of the special precautionary techniques, PPE, including arc flash, insulating and shielding materials, and insulated tools and test equipment.
  • Assists the Chief Engineer and Facilities Control Center with planning, work activities, and outages.
  • Works overtime as needed to meet mission critical needs.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • Five (5) years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Trades license equal to or greater than a Journeyman's in the mechanical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a variety of HVAC systems.
  • Valid Universal CFC certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) intelligence community level clearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
