Position Title: Facilities Assistant

FLSA Classification: Part Time, Non-exempt

Supervisor: Facilities Manager

Schedule: 20 hrs. per week, any day of the week after initial period of orientation/training which would occur during Monday-Friday

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

b. Under the supervision of: Facilities Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the FTS Facilities Manager, is charged with assisting in the general maintenance activities and landscaping of the Kaimuki FTS campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Follows a scheduled routine for grounds keeping tasks and responsibilities.
  2. Assists the Facilities Manager in responding to quarterly building inspections submitted by FTS departments and ensures all items are addressed in a timely way.
  3. Provides for or coordinates monthly inspections for pest control and rodent abatement in all cottages and administration buildings.
  4. Monitors all areas of cottages/buildings, extended facility, parking, pathways, maintenance area and landscape grounds on a regular basis for any safety concerns and alerts the Facilities Manager.
  5. Takes the lead from the Facilities Manager for bulk trash pickup, City and County disposal or TSA ARC for removal of donations or items needing disposal to ensure a facility that is safe and attractive for guests, residents and employees.
  6. Able to become an authorized driver of the agency to assist with maintenance related activities
  7. Completes all annual employee requirements such as maintaining TB clearances, CPR/First Aide, Physical exams, monthly agency trainings on risk management, confidentiality, etc.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

GED or equivalent with a minimum of three years of experience working in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical or general maintenance. Required to drive agency vehicles. Must have a valid drivers' license.

  • Sitting; stooping, kneeling, bending, standing; and walking
  • Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision
  • Ability to lift and/or carry at least 25 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds
  • Driving a vehicle

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

  • Receiving and responding to written or verbal instructions/communication with co-workers, clients, and vendors
  • Reading professional materials that may be technical or legal in nature
  • Visiting/working at other worksites
  • Able to use work email system, phone system and complete computer trainings (online/internal)
  • Interacting with others with courtesy and tact

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

Use general office equipment and maintenance equipment such as weedwhacker, ride-on lawnmower drill, maintenance golf cart, hedger, etc.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work will occur both outdoors and indoors for repairs and maintenance tasks.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Able to meet basic standards of physical, mental health, and communication demands specified by State and/or professional accreditation standards applicable to this agency. Initial/Annual criminal background check, pre-employment, annual physical examination, TB test, and driver abstract compliance with agency policy are required.
