POSITION SUMMARY: The Kokua Soup Kitchen Manager is responsible for running and preparing meals 2 possibly 3- times a week for 100 people. This position is dependent on available funding. Must have valid driver's license and able to pass TSA driving restrictions.

The Kokua Soup Kitchen Manager will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Hanapepe Corps.

REQUIRE EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  2. A minimum of three years working in a commercial kitchen
  3. Knowledge of, and experience in meal preparation and balanced nutrition
  4. Ability to work well with professionals in the community as well as the variety of populations served on property.
  5. Must be motivated, a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
  6. Good communication skills a must- both written and oral
  7. Must have a sense of cleanliness, tidiness and neatness.
  8. Understand The Salvation Army standards, philosophy and policy and willingness to adhere to them.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. The ability to prepare large scale and well balance meal to feed 100 people per
  2. Oversee the food preparation, servicing and cleanup of kitchen and dining room.
  3. Ensure restrooms, kitchen, pantries, freezers and refrigerators are clean.
  4. Freezers and refrigerators are maintained at correct temperatures.
  5. Responsible for ordering and purchasing food and kitchen supplies.
  6. Kitchen, pantry, food storage, dining area meets all regulations from health department and safety protocols are in order.
  7. Weekly menu planning and meat menu is posted at each meal.
  8. Ensure a vegetarian dish is available at each meal provided.
  9. Ensure all reports are completed by the end of the month for The Salvation Army as well as the Hawaii Food Bank & Independent Food Bank
  10. Available to prepare meats in case of an emergency for all EDS needs.
COORDINATION OF DONATED MEALS:
  1. Solicitation of community agencies, business, churches to provide 1 cooked meal per month to the soup kitchen.
  2. Working with community food trucks in collaboration to provide 1 cooked meal per month.
  3. Ensure collaboration and partnership with ACF of Kauai is an upmost priority, all requests and requirements are met.
  4. Ensure all donation of meals have been cleared/approved with the health department.
  5. Solicitation of meals and/ or food needed in an EDS situation.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR:
  1. Collaboration with community agencies, churches, clubs and RSVP to coordinate volunteers for weekly meals.
  2. Coordinate all volunteers through meal service.
  3. Ensure all RSVP volunteers timesheets are signed, and mileage logs are completed.
  4. Coordinate and solicit all volunteers for large events, Thanksgiving Luncheon and Senior Spring Luncheon.
  5. Ensure all volunteer information is recorded and necessary TSA volunteer paperwork is completed and given to the Corps Officer.
  6. Solicitation and coordination of volunteers needed in and EDS situation.
