Job Description

Vinland National Center's outpatient services facility, located in NE Minneapolis, MN is an outpatient Substance Use Disorder and Problem Gambling Treatment Center for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities. We are looking for someone for full-time days.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Enrollment in an educational program with a degree in behavioral sciences and/or chemical dependency with the goal of state Licensure as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). Must be willing to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Willingness to learn about individuals with cognitive disabilities is a must.
  • Practical experience in all 12 core functions. Learning and time within each core function will be determined by the intern and the supervisor of Vinland.
  • Interns learning agreement, provided by their institution, will be followed ongoing. Vinland, the student, and the student's institution instructor will work collaboratively to determine ongoing learning experiences.
  • Student to meet with the intern's supervisor for weekly sessions of supervision and support while in Vinland's internship program. Date and time to be determined by intern and supervisor.
  • Students to work with the assigned case managers to clearly communicate schedules to allow adequate coverage of responsibilities.

LEARNING INTERDISCIPLINARY SKILLS:

  • Participate as a member of Vinland's interdisciplinary team in a manner that promotes professionalism, client-centered services, communication, and staff cooperation.
  • Understand and comply with the standard of ethics as established by the Minnesota Department of Health.
  • Understand and comply with all current statutory and regulatory standards as they related to professional duties and conduct.
  • Understand and comply with all statutes regarding HIPAA, rules of confidentiality, and data privacy.
  • Understand and support the implementation of all policies and procedures related to vulnerable adults and safety, infection control, risk management, and illness/injury prevention. Report any observed or suspected violations to your supervisor.
