Position Summary

Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental, a heavy lift equipment and specialized trucking company serving the construction industry is seeking a Safety Administrator Intern to assist the Safety Manager. This position will be based out of our Milwaukee office and support our other locations strategically located throughout WI. This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule with regards to academic obligations and could be either part-time or fulltime. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in pursuing a career in safety, leading to a possible regular, fulltime position within the company after graduation.

Essential Functions

• Identifies and ensures compliance with OSHA standards, DOT/FMCSA regulations, and corporate policies, for employees at branch locations and work sites.
• Performs all job functions in a safe manner and abides by OSHA standards, corporate policies, and client requirements.
• Conduct safety audits to evaluate compliance with client & company audit programs.
• Report known accidents, injuries, and unsafe practices to EHS Manager.
• Assist with incident investigations and job site safety analysis.
• Conduct weekly safety toolbox talks.
• Assist with new hire safety orientations.
• Understands DOT/FMCSA compliance requirements and able to maintain driver qualification files.
• Prepares and disseminates information on safety issues on a regular and timely basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Attention to details and ability to work independently.
• Able to ambulate over uneven terrain.
• Able to use office technology and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
